NPT Turku 2024

The fourth edition of the Embodied Knowledge Workshop was offered in Turku, supported by the New Performance Turku (NPT) Biennale, and took place in Kutomo dance studio of Ehka Productions, during three intensive weekends in August of 2024.

In this edition, the open call welcomed nine people, some dance practitioners and others local artists, to explore embodied experiments as a form of personal and collective exploration and creative performance. The binaries of intellect-emotion, nature-culture, spontaneity-technique, and freedom-conditioning were discussed in critical texts and examined through somatics, experimental writing tasks, and mapping experiments.

As a closure, participants proposed and facilitated their personal experiments with the group: they developed somatic exercises to help reflect embodied everyday practices and the role of the body in our interaction with others.
