Art of Writing
For the new Art and Media MA curriculum I was invited as hourly paid teacher to give the introductory master lecture for 110 students (on free form essay and academic article formats), and 2 creative writing workshops (a total of 9 sessions of contact teaching). In the workshops, I proposed strategies for students to get comfortable with textual explorations and argumentation, helping them finding their own voice in writing, exploring varied style and genres to find those that would best serve their creative practice and projects. We moved across the poles of theory and practice, and worked on written content visually and spatially. The course exercises were designed to enable new ways of thinking about the intersection of words, narratives, visual media, and contemporary reality. We used digital collaboration tools as well as explored analogue, hands-on formats for text composition. Finally, we discussed and tested discursive strategies, vocabulary, and tone for different purposes and audiences.
